THE SCOTTISH National Party have taken Dundee West from Labour with a 6 percent swing.
The SNP’s Joe Fitzpatrick won a majority of 1,946 over Labour’s Jill Shimi.
The turnout was 48.8 per cent, with 900 spoiled ballots.
Mr Fitzpatrick said: "This election was fought between hope and fear. The people of Dundee West chose the politics of hope. By putting their trust in me they have put their trust in Alex Salmond and their hope for a more successful Scotland."
